What to do in the AI age?

It is the question of the decade. What to do given AI is evolving?

I am also wrestling heavily with this question.

At first, I think the mentality should be focused on "How to use AI", rather than "How to fight against it".

From there, the "what to do" dilemma always goes back so the same lame fact, whether there is AI or not, namely "what problem to solve", or "how to majorly improve a solution that already exists for a current problem".

If you read a book called Simplify, you will find that most grand successful businesses in the last 20 years have improved a solution for a current problem.

For example:
-Uber for taxis
-AirBnB for hospitality
-Expedia, Travelocity, etc for booking flights, hotels, car rental, etc.
-Paypal, Zelle, Venmo, CashApp for quick payment
-Bitcoin, etc, for faster and store of value decentralized money system
-Encrypted (for worldwide private, at least supposedly) communication apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, etc., where we can exchange photos, messages, videos, etc in seconds, rather than printing them and sending via post office, taking days, etc.

RobinHood, WeBull, etc for stock investment, where we don't need a person to do our investing.

Anyways, you get the point.

Now, one aspect with AI, is that whatever problem you will think of solving, to be somewhat protected from take over, ideally there will be a hardware element involved that the solution is dependent on. Why? Because in the near future, AI will target problems that could be easily solved via software.

For example, those booking website like Expedia, Travelocity, Kayak, etc, which replaced the travel storefront agency on the street, are basically all web/app based software.

Same with web/app based payment Venmo, Zelle, CashApp, where there is no hardware involved, therefore completely eliminating the dependency on you/your company.

AI will accelerate exponentially at software based solutions, especially mundane and repetitive computer based chores, activities and, of course, jobs.

So, there should be extra focus on delivering a solution for a problem, where AI cannot easily create the hardware component.

As a result, some industries that will have more of a safe future are those dependent on heavy regulation, certification, licensing, that are also dependent on hardware/human. Like plumbing, electric work, construction (some danger with robots already building cement putting based houses), sewage cleaning, mineral, oil and gas mining and exploring, etc. You get the point.

Now, throw in factors such as your current skillset, ability and willingness to learn, flexibility in moving to other locations, weather and life style tolerances, your credit worth for borrowing ability, and so on and see what you could come up with.

Furthermore, a huge factor is your network capital (people you know and trust you) that could be a great asset for investment, whether it is sourcing development funds from them, or partnering with them to develop solutions.

It is difficult to solve problems, but not impossible.

It starts with really knowing and understanding yourself, your strengths, and weaknesses, which could be complemented by other if needed, along with your network capital and wisdom toward drawing safe investment in your project.

Obviously, we live in a dangerous world, where intellectual property for a solution development could be at risk of being stolen, bankrupted, or even put lives and partners' lives in danger should it be a major industry disruptor.

You see, many people come with great ideas & even bring a solution to market, just to be visited by the "big boys", being offered a huge payment to suppress the technology or solution, or if you don’t comply you become a target for ousting, death, etc. Many of the big boys, do not want to lose control and have their big Industries disrupted and destroy their money making machines.

Last thing that I would throw in, is that the bigger the number of people the solution could help, the better off financially your business will get.

For example, the number of people needing data recovery from a smartphone vs. the number of people needing affordable housing, or insurance, etc.
